Bôa ボア

Opening theme 'Duvet'

Boa is a London alternative rock band; its 2000 lineup at Otakon was Jasmine Rodgers (vocals), Steve Rodgers (guitar), Paul Turrell (keyboards), Alex Caird (bass) and Lee Sullivan (drums). Jasmine and Steve are children of singer Paul Rodgers. Duvet was not written for Lain: the band had signed with the Japanese label Polystar, and that connection plus a friendship between people around the two producers brought the existing song to the show. Ueda says he chose it for the sound and the translated lyrics, then learned Jasmine is half Japanese. Rodgers says the lyrics are about expectation, hope and depending on others. The band played Otakon 2000, later stopped releasing music, and re-formed after Duvet went viral on TikTok around 2021; the song was certified Gold by the RIAA in 2023 and Platinum in 2024.
