Triangle Staff トライアングルスタッフ
Animation production studio
Triangle Staff was a small Tokyo studio founded in 1987 by 浅利義美 (Asari) that animated Lain, and its site later hosted Ueda's 'stories I can tell now' interview. Konaka recalls a script meeting in its small studio where he and Ueda had a shouting match over what a network protocol is, with ABe present. Ueda remembers returning from abroad to find work behind schedule and faxing a furious three-page letter at night, which arrived blank because he fed it upside down. Ueda also says bringing outside digital staff into a cel studio was awkward for its animators, and credits Nakamura for making it work. The studio also made NieA_7 with Ueda and ABe in 2000. It did not stop in December 2000 as often stated: in December 2000 it was recruiting production assistants to start in January 2001, its site posted news until March 2001 and its top page carried mid-2001 news, and by late September 2001 the site was cut down to a bare list of works. No closure notice or primary account of the reason has been found. The company itself was never formally wound up: Japan's National Tax Agency assigned 有限会社トライアングルスタッフ a corporate number on 5 October 2015 and still lists it with no closure.
